The film Mediterráneo is based on true events and tells the origin story of the NGO Open Arms. In the autumn of 2015, two lifeguards, Òscar Camps (played by Eduard Fernández) and Gerard (Dani Rovira), travel to the Greek island of Lesbos after being moved by the image of Syrian child Aylan Kurdi, who drowned in the Mediterranean Sea. Upon arrival, they discover a harrowing reality: thousands of people risk their lives every day crossing the sea in precarious boats, fleeing armed conflicts, with no one carrying out rescue operations. Together with Esther (Anna Castillo), Nico (Sergi López), and other team members, they fight to fulfill their mission: helping those in need. This initial journey becomes an odyssey that will change their lives.
